Recording the fastest time during timed practice before
going on to win his heat race ahead of Acerbis supported Enduro 3 World Champion
Ivan Cervantes, Taddy then dominated the first two finals. Starting well Taddy
followed US rider Mike Brown on both occasions but once in the lead was never
troubled. In the third final Taddy needed a little longer to move into the
number one position but after working his way into the lead put the finishing
touches to a fantastic night by claiming his third straight win.
KTM US rider Mike Brown showed that his participation in the
US Endurocross championship has helped him vastly improve his indoor enduro
skills. Second in both of the opening two races Brown placed third in the last
final to secure second overall.
Finn Mika Ahola was unable to compete in Sheffield due to
suffering with Influenza. Completing just a few laps of practice the Enduro 1
World Champion decided there was little point in trying to qualify due to
feeling so ill. Britain’s David Knight finished fourth in the opening race but
then took no further part in the event due to breathing problems.
Defending IEWC series champion Ivan Cervantes wasn’t able to
finish n the overall podium as Sherco rider Graham Jarvis placed third.
Cervantes finished fourth overall 10 points behind runner-up Mike Brown.
Taddy Blazusiak: ‘Coming back from the US as the ’09
Endurocross champion and winning the opening round of the Indoor Enduro World
Cup is really great. I couldn’t have asked for things to go any better. I got
the fastest time in qualifying, won my heat race and then had three great
starts in the finals, and won all three races. I think that was the best part
of the event for me – starting alongside a rider as good as Mike Brown and
competing against him on every start.
‘The first two races went really well. I made a few small
mistakes, but I think it was impossible not to because there were a few tricky
places on the track. In the third race I was third and decided just to take it
easy. The guys ahead of me made some mistakes and I was able to win again,
which was a great end to a great night.
‘I’m going to take a few days off now before flying back to
the US and the final round of the Endurocross series. I’m going to give that
event everything. The championship’s already mine so I’m just going for the
win. Then it’s back to Europe and the second IEWC event in Italy, which I’m
really looking forward to. Hopefully, I can repeat the result I’ve had here.’
