Mario Román achieved a double victory in Andorra that places him only four points behind the leader, while Eero Remes reduces by 22 points Salminen’s advantage and will fight until the last round at Mende. Cristóbal Guerrero took his second victory of the year on Sunday.

With Antoine Meo (Husqvarna) as the first 2011 Enduro World Champion in the E2 class, the Acerbis riders of Team Farioli achieved brilliant results. The most prominent was the young and each time faster Mario Román (KTM) in the Junior category, as he showed that his adaptation to the 4-stroke engine has been progressing and is placed in an excepcionally good position to take the last fifty points up for grabs. This next round in Mende (next October 1st and 2nd) will be a race where Jérémy Joly will suffer the pressure from Román. In both days, the rider from Madrid demonstrated that the trial abilities from his beginnings in the two-wheel world helped him to be one of the fastest in one of the toughest extreme stages of the last years, with a very long and tough climb full of obstacles, steps and slippery areas. There, Roman showed that he is in better form than men that are experts in this type of stages, such as Taddy Blasuziak himself.
In Enduro 1, Eero Remes (KTM) won on Saturday, taking advantage of Salminen’s absence, who had broken his Husqvarna’s engine in the second stage of the day. Unfortunately, Remes was not able to beat the multiple Champion on Sunday and so he was only able to reduce the difference in the overall standings by 22 points. Despite that, the KTM rider is now very close to his goal, which is to be the number one of the class. In this moment, they are separated by 24 points, a distance that can be covered as there are still fifty points available. The fight is not over yet in E1.
About Enduro 2, the highlight was the second consecutive World Championship won by Antoine Meo (Husqvarna) and the great performance by Cristóbal Guerrero, who achieved an excellent first position on Sunday, keeping Iván Cervantes (Gas Gas) at bay in the overall standings.
In Enduro 3, victory went to Cristophe Nambotin (Gas Gas) on Saturday and Mika Ahola (HM-Honda) on Sunday, both followed by an inspired Joakim Ljunggren (Husaberg). Ahola has some margin in the overall classification, but he has to keep being focused as Nambotin has shown a great consistency this 2011.
The next WEC Grand Prix will take place in Mende, France, next October 1 and 2.

PODIUM FOR BOISSIÈRE, REMARKABLE RESULT FOR PAULIN AND DOUBLE ZERO FOR FROSSARD

The French achieved a fourth and sixth position in MX2, Boissière gets his first podium and Frossard is not able to score but keeps the second position in the overall standings

The Motocross European Grand Prix crowned Antonio Cairoli (KTM) as the MX1 World Championship and Ken Roczen (KTM) as MX2 World Champion. Cairoli achieved this title after Clement Desalle’s injury and the double zero by Steven Frossard (Yamaha), after not being able to finish even the first of the races held during the weekend. Despite that, Frossard keeps his second position in the overall standings, that could only be threaten by Germany’s Max Nagl, who is 33 points behind him with only 50 points up for grabs.

David Phillipaerts’s (Yamaha) absence, benefited Anthony Boissière (Yamaha), who achieved his first podium of the season, finishing third in the second race after achieving a tenth position in the first.

In MX2, Ken Roczen (KTM) was the fastest in the first race, while Tommy Searle (Kawasaki) took that honour in the second and Roczen was third. This result was enough to give him the title, while Gauthier Paulin (Yamaha) showed again that he can be at the level of the top five riders, as he finished fourth and sixth respectively. Cristophe Charlier (Yamaha) finished twenty-ninth in the first race and twelfth in the second.

The Motocross World Championship will finish next weekend, on the 11th. with the last round that will take place in Fermo, Italy.
